Research
FORSEE Canada recognizes research as one of the three necessary arms of our holistic approach to help every eye, everywhere. We look at a research team the way we look at an eye – every part has an important function to maximize its vision. That is why our research team consists of different sub-specialists and other allied eyecare providers that are focused on advancing the profession in a patient focused manner. Through our rich experience in patient care, we are able to identify gaps or challenges that would benefit from translational research with the ultimate goal of having a direct impact on patient care.
A parallel goal of our research program is training the next generation of medical trainees in basic science and advanced clinical research skills. This will further challenge the next generation of health care providers to incorporate evidence-based medicine in all aspects of their career. To that end, FORSEE Canada has invested in the Summer Research Scholarship, which is a competitive award directed to second year Canadian medical students interested in pursuing further studies in Ophthalmology. To bring full circle to our holistic approach in advancing eyecare, we couple our epidemiological mindset with our experience from our outreach programs, to address eyecare gaps in the vulnerable populations. In essence our outreach missions look towards the direct care for the individual’s eye and the eyes of generations to come. Your support allows this program to fund laboratory equipment and advanced research diagnostic tools for our volunteering doctors and clinicians. In addition, it allows students to further their education through student scholarship programs - together this allows us to advance eyecare today and into the future.
